
Victor T. Anstine describes his music style as mostly neo-romantic, influenced by some of his inspirations; Wolfgang A. Mozart, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, J.S. Bach, Igor Stravinsky, Amy Beach, Leonard Bernstein, Bernard Herrmann, Danny Elfman, Ennio Moricone, John Williams, Erich Korngold, Lili Boulanger, Krzysztof Penderecki, Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky and many more. He has been commissioned to write pieces for his colleagues at Capital University Conservatory of Music, Film Score work, and general media soundtracks over the years. Symphonic Music

Symphonic Poems
One of the composers compositional favorite forms is the Symphonic Poem. “Fantasy Land”, Op. 11 for Orchestra explores the magic of wishing, dreaming and acting with child-like wonder.

Symphony No. 1, Op. 12
Composed in 2011-2012, at age 14, this is the young composers first attempt at a small scale symphony. This symphony demonstrates his chamber music and large ensemble scoring abilities.

Commissioned Piano Works:
“Travel” Op. 14, This piano solo was commissioned in 2013 by a pianist friend from school, as a task to write a virtuosic piece that he could work on. It puts one in mind of the many thrills of traveling. The rising and descending of a flight and the excitement of going to a new place.

Piano Solos
He began writing music in 2009, the piano has always been a comfortable compositional outlet since his inception as a composer.
“Life Before War”, Op. 3 is one of the first piano pieces Victor wrote when he was 12 years old. It reflects on the good times, before all was lost, and the pleasures and happiness that may never be the same again.

Improvisational Piano Pieces
Victor often Improvise on the piano and if he is satisfied with the end result he will attempt to transcribe the piece. This is one of those such transcriptions. A video of the composer playing the original Improvisation titled “Fading Dreams”, Op. 40 is available on his YouTube Channel by request, written in 2017.

Brass Ensemble
Triptych for Brass Choir, Op. 33, was written in preparation for, on, and after his European concert tour with The Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony in 2016, of which Victor was concertmaster. It is written for a small brass choir (Piccolo trumpet, 2 trumpets, 3 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium, tuba and percussion.)
